Sapper Sunday at Royal Hospital Chelsea

‘SAPPER SUNDAY’ – THE ROYAL HOSPITAL CHELSEA
SUNDAY 9th OCTOBER 2022

 

General.   ‘SAPPER SUNDAY’ will take place on Sun 9th October 2022 at The Royal Hospital Chelsea.  This is the day after the REA AGM and Annual Dinner and there should be a good turnout of REA Members from around the country; wives are encouraged to attend.

 

Governors Parade.   Prior to the service there will be a parade of RE In-Pensioners together with RE veterans.  REA members attending are encouraged to wear medals.  The Inspecting Officer for the Governors Parade will be the Physician & Surgeon (GP of TRHC) Dr Fergus Keating, accompanied by the Chief Royal Engineer, Lt Gen Sir T R Urch KBE.  A service in the Chapel will follow the Governors Parade.

 

Standards.   Due to limited space, only 2 Standards will be allowed into the Chapel.  These will be the REA National Standard and the REA Central London Branch Standard.

 

Timings.   Those attending the parade are to assemble at 1000hrs by the Royal Hospital Chapel.  The inspection will take place at 1030 hrs.  Members attending the service are to be seated by 1050hrs.  The service will commence at 1100hrs and end at 1200 hrs.  After the service all are welcome to the In-Pensioners Club.

 

Dress.  Dress for gentlemen will be lounge suits or blazers with Corps tie and Medals; ladies should dress accordingly.

 

Order of Service. The service will be a standard Royal Hospital service as laid down by the Chaplain to the Royal Hospital, Reverend Steven Brooks.  The service will include the Corps Collect.  With the exception of regular chapel attendees, those attending will be predominately REA/RE.

 

Luncheon.  Pre-Lunch drinks will be taken in the Clubroom after the service and a curry lunch will be available.
