Hal (Herman) Woolf

Duncan Tyler is trying to gather information on a former member of the Royal Engineers called Hal (Herman) Woolf.

Hal was born in the east end of London in 1902 and studied at several art colleges; he made a career as an artist in the 1920s and 30s.

When the second world war broke out he was conscripted into the Royal Engineers and fought as part of a camouflage unit in Egypt. He may not have had an exemplary army record and he may have acquired a small reputation as a rebel.  He was to die in 1963.

Duncan would like to make contact with any of his old comrades so that they can share their memories of him.

Duncan Tyler can be contacted at duncan.tyler@rcnpublishing.co.uk
